SPLASH OF PURPLE DAY, 29th January 2009
Our Splash of Purple day has been a tremendous success with that total raised to date
£2700.00.  An amazing response from the local community and we are so grateful for all the support.

Thank you to everyone who bought our Christmas cards this year    The cards were produced by local artist, Amy Yates for PAC.  We sold three thousand cards this year.

SANTA'S GROTTO
Westway Precinct

Positive Action on Cancer opened a Santa's Grotto in association with Westway Precinct and ASDA Frome and raised over £800.

FROME YOUTH CHOIR
Frome Youth Choir sang Carols for PAC Westway Precinct on Saturday, 12th December between and raised over £90.

FOREVER BLOWING BUBBLES...
THE LIQUID GLASS CENTRE 12 - 13 December 2009
Stowford Manor Farm, Wingfield, Wiltshire, BA4 9LH
Raised  money for PAC at their open weekend by giving people the opportunity to blow a bubble for £1.00 and raised over £100.

CHRISTMAS CRIB EXHIBITION
WESLEY METHODIST CHURCH
Wesley Slope, Frome
Saturday, 19th December between 10.00 am - 4.00 pm
Wesley Methodist Church hosted a Crib Exhibition in the Church. Entries from the following schools displayed their work:- Christchurch C of E First School, Selwood Middle School, St Louis R C School, St Johns C of E (VA) First School, Trinity C of E First School, Vallis First School.

United Reformed Church

Frome Community Choir sang at the United Reformed Church, Frome on Sunday, 20th December. 

ACOUSTIC PLUS EVENING
Cheese & Grain, Frome
Friday, 18th December at 8.00 pm
The Ac+ Christmas Special raised over £600 for PAC. The Christmas Special has become an essential part of the seasonal celebration, with an atmospheric fast moving show full of high quality acts.

IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE
Merlin Theatre, Frome

Positive Action on Cancer and the Merlin Theatre presented a gala evening of mulled wine; mince pies and the showing of this classic Christmas movie to raise much needed funds for both charities and was a great Christmas night out for everyone.

ASDA, Frome

A big thank you to ASDA who committed to raise funds for PAC over 2009.  This has included a sponsored Sky Dive.  ASDA have also supported our Santa's Grotto.  Their support has been invaluable over the year.

Pen-Y-Fan and the Beacons Horseshoe Walk

Ian Williams Ltd Beacon Horseshoe Walk

A big thank you to Nigel Shoosmith, and the Ian Williams Three Peaks Challenge team.  Nigel had already completed the Fromerang for PAC.  Nigel, and the Ian Williams Three Peaks Challenge team completed a hill trek up Pen-y-Fan, the highest peak on the Brecon Beacons, on Sunday 29th November 2009.

The Fromerang - 26th September 2009
The The Fromerang took place on in September, organised by Ride Your Bike.
The sponsored cycle ride started in Frome, the route passed through Longleat Forest,
Shearwater, the Deverills and the Wylyle Valley before returning back to Frome.
 
Frome Festival
Frome Festival Cream Teas held at Monmouth House & Gardens
Freshly prepared lunches and homemade cakes were served in the delightful garden of Monmouth House, accompanied by live music, in the heart of Frome town over the weekend of the 4th and 5th July.  All proceeds from the event will be given to Positive Action on Cancer.

Orchardleigh Golf Club have committed to raise monies for PAC over 2009
Positive Action on Cancer would like to thank Orchardleigh Golf Club who have committed to raise monies through events over the year for Positive Action on Cancer.   The recent Captains Day held on June 27th raised £900.

Band Night - May 2009







£500 raised by reel people film society
Cheque Presentation
Members and guests of reel people film society based in Kilmersdon raised £500 for Positive Action on Cancer at a screening of Slumdog Millionaire on Saturday 5 April.  Each season the reel people committee select a key charity to support through a special event. 

Frome businesses; Abernethy’s, Coco’s, Hunting Raven Bookshop, La Strada, Lesley’s Flowershop and Part 2 provided gift tokens for a mystery raffle and Babington House provided sponsorship for the film and village hall hire enabling all profits from the evening to be donated to PAC. 

Over 100 people enjoyed the evening – a ‘reel’ community had fun to support a very deserving cause!  reel people committee requested that the funds raised are used to continue free, private counselling for children and young people.

Rosie Eliot, the Events Fundraiser for Positive Action on Cancer, said 'We are delighted to receive this fantastic gift from reel people film society; it was such an enjoyable way to be part of a fundraising event. We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped to make this happen'.

Award for PAC's Founder

Jill's AwardPAC's founder and former Chief Executive, Jill Miller, has received a prestigious award from the retiring High Sheriff of Somerset, Annie Maw.  The award is in recognition of Jill's great and valuable services in the community.  Mr John Alvis, MBE, who is the current High Sheriff, presented the award to Jill at a ceromony at the Bath and West Show.

 

 

 

 

£10,000 award to PAC

Positive Action on Cancer would like to thank the Caron Keating Foundation for their generous award of £10,000 to help with our work with people affected by cancer.The Caron Keating Foundation is a charity set up by Gloria Hunniford and her two sons in memory of Caron who died from breast cancer in 2004. The Foundation awards grants to a variety of cancer charities to help with their work.
