To make available a free professional counselling service that will enhance the lives of people who are affected either directly or indirectly by cancer.
Positive Action on Cancer is a free professional one-to-one counselling service for anyone affected by a cancer diagnosis. This includes family, friends and carers as well as cancer patients. Positive Action on Cancer now offers counselling for people bereaved by cancer.
The counselling staff at PAC are professionally trained, experienced and adhere to the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or alternative professional body.
As an organisational member of BACP, PAC is bound by it's Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to the professional Conduct Procedure for the time being in force.
Our main service is situated in the centre of Frome, Somerset, we also have services in Bath and Warminster. Home visits are possible within a 15 mile radius, if you live in our area and are unable to travel, or are outside the 15 mile radius, in some cases telephone counselling is available.
Positive Action on Cancer was founded in 1994 initially as a telephone helpline for women affected by breast cancer. In 1998 research indicated the need for a counselling service rather than a telephone helpline.
We now offer free professional counselling to all people affected by any cancer diagnosis. This includes not only the patient but family, friends and carers. PAC also offers counselling for people bereaved by cancer.
Positive Action on Cancer provides a safe, confidential environment in which to support people to manage the impact that cancer has on their lives. Our counsellors are here to listen and to help people find effective ways of dealing with the difficulties they are facing.
